Raised in St. Theresa parish in Memorial Park, Fr. Drew Wood is a graduate of St. Thomas High School and the University of St. Thomas. He entered St. Mary's Seminary and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Galveston-Houston on April 28, 1973. He served at many parishes throughout the Houston area, in addition to filling the roles of Vocations Director and Vice Chancellor for the diocese and Spiritual Director at St. Mary’s Seminary before being assigned to St. Laurence in 1998. He became pastor in 2002. Under his leadership, the parish has doubled in size to over 7,600 registered families, necessitating the expansion of the church building (2008) and construction of a new Ave Maria Parish Life Center (2015). Fr. Drew's love of liturgy, devotion to the Blessed Mother and affection for his parishioners have created a parish recognized as a safe harbor and vibrant, Spirit-led community.

Please pray for all priests that we become good servants for God.Message to Parish Family: God loves us and provides for us more than we can ever realize. Let us totally trust in His love and providence.
Message to Parish Family: Being there to share in your times of celebration… and to pray with you when you are sick or grieving… blesses me greatly; thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives.
From Rebuilt by Brandon Vogt, “The Catholic Church is hemorrhaging young people. No tool or strategy can replace the fact that, by virtue of being your child’s parent, you’re already the most important factor in this equation. No tip or strategy or tool can substitute for the role you play. You are the key.” Read this book and get a game plan. And men, become the spiritual leader of your family, the lives of your children are at stake. Then as a couple, pray, and fast, and sacrifice for your children. Jesus is waiting for you to act. Ask me about Sugar Land Sam sometime, he knows what I am talking about.
Message to Parish Family:
You are an inspiration as "Rivers of Grace". Thank you for sharing your love, patience, and kindness with me and my family, and may the Light of Christ enflame your hearts always. "Jesus, I Trust in You."
Message to Parish family: I look forward to serving you in any way I can and I encourage you to take to heart the words of the prophet Micah, "You have been told, O mortal, what is good, and what the LORD requires of you: Only to do justice and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God." (Mic 6:8)
