Dear Friends and Family of St. Laurence,
As you all may know, I am a missionary belonging to the religious order of Missionaries of St. Francis De Sales (MSFS), also known as Fransalians.
The MSFS proclaim the Gospel by working in parishes, schools and villages to educate children, youth and women. We strive to empower them to find jobs and care for, and build up, a loving and grace-filled family and community. Founded in France in 1838, the MSFS are more than 1,300 priests and brothers, working in 28 countries, eight in Africa. In the U.S., there are 70 MSFS priests, seven here in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. I am grateful for the eight years of happy and joyful life with you all here at St. Laurence.
The weekend of May 21-22, there will be a mission appeal to support the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales, to build schools in our African missions in Chad and Cameroon. I ask for your generous support of this effort and for your prayers. With your help, the MSFS may continue our missionary work to provide education rooted in the values of the Gospel — for the liberation and salvation of the people.
With love and gratitude, Fr. Jaison P. Thomas, MSFS
