“I am the true vine… Remain in me, as I remain in you.” John 15:1,4
O Lord, my Vine, keep me close to you. I know you want to – and it’s my free will that sometimes distances me from you. But you are persistent, like a vine. You cling, you creep into tiny spaces. You feed, you shade, you follow crooked paths, you circle back. You grow and are life-giving. You can build up what is good and pull down what is not. You are both gentle and strong.
Dear Lord, I welcome your tendrils reaching out to my heart. I thank you for tenderly drawing me to you and the support you give my soul. I want my life to be entwined with yours so that all I want and say and do is what you want for me.
“Let the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart
find favor with you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:15
