Volunteers from the Correctional Ministry bring Christ in Word and in Eucharist into jails and prisons. Their visits offer everything from a sympathetic ear to communion services, retreats, counseling, faith sharing, Bible studies, and sacramental preparation. An application process and training is required before volunteers can serve. This is run by Deacon Tim and Deacon Charles. For more information please contact Deacon Tim Cullen at t[email protected] or Deacon Charles Plant at 281-300-3050 or [email protected].
Bridges to Life
A correctional ministry run by Dana Cutbirth, Bridges to Life is a 14-week program that meets once a week in small groups with extreme confidentiality. The groups consist of offenders, victims of crime, and trained facilitators. Stories are told, concepts studied, Bible verses read, and through it all, a spiritual growth and healing evolves. For more information please contact Dana Cutbirth at 832-689-4010 or [email protected].
Kolbe Prison Ministry seeks to touch the lives of those incarcerated and to restore hope through the love of Jesus Christ. We do this by presenting a 3-day retreat within the prison followed by ongoing Catholic formation in partnership with other groups like the Society of St. John De Matha. We help to motivate and encourage prisoners by developing personal relationships with community volunteers both during and after the retreat. We provide opportunities for the incarcerated to examine their lives, experience the healing forgiveness and power of God's love, and return from incarceration with a covenant commitment to personal responsibility and contribution to family and community.
