(for high school students)

Welcome! We are excited that your high school teen is interested in recieving  the Sacrament of Confirmation, and we would love to assit you in this critical point in their lives. 

In Confirmation, Christians receive a special outpouring and deepening of the spiritual gifts that they received when they were baptized, just like the apostles received on Pentecost. (CCC 1285; 1302) The increase of these spiritual gifts that are received in the Sacrament of Confirmation help the baptized to more fully live as a disciple of Jesus and share the faith with others. (CCC 1303) 

The St. Laurence Catholic Church Confirmation preparation program is open to high school students who:

• are in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade 
• have already been baptized Catholic
• are currently registered members of St. Laurence Catholic Church 
• currently attend Sunday Mass every weekend
• have already completed at least one full year of at least one of our High School faith formation programs during the 2022-2023 school year.
  • This could be through Life Teen, Family Faith, Home Study or attended a Catholic High School) for one year prior to registering for Confirmation prep.
  • This preresquite year can be done as early as the 9th grade.

• Register for and Attend Life Teen 
  • Life Teen is our program for all high schoolers. We hope you find a small group to support and grow your faith through Confirmation, as well as for the rest of your time in high school.

• Attend one of the two Teen and Parent Confirmation Information Sessions
  • Thursday September 8, 2022 7-8pm 
  • Monday October 3, 2022 7-8 pm 
• Attend a Confirmation Retreat
  • Confirmation retreat has the chance to be one of the best weekends of the year. We get away to Huntsville, TX for ziplining, campfires, messages, friendship, food, and faith.
• Choose a Sponsor
  • In addtion to your parents and Life Teen small group leaders, we ask that you choose a sponsor to be apart of your journey. This is another spirtual coach for you. Choose someone who you admire for their faith and who can help you grow closer to Christ and follow Him throughout the rest of high school and for the rest of your life. Your sponsor should be a Confirmed, practicing Catholic, other than your parent. 
• Attend one of the two Teen and Sponsor meetings on zoom with your sponsor 
  • Sunday November 20, 7-8:15 pm
  • Sunday November 27, 7-8:15 pm 
    • This meeting will help you and your sponsor understand the expectations of a sponsor.
    • Zoom link will be announced at a later date. 
• Select a Saint Name
  • Do some research on Saints in the Church. Look into their interests and causes and find a saint who interests you or pertains to you. It can also be a saint you were named after. Your saint name will be the name that you are called when you receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Submit your saint name below. 
• Attend the Penance Service for the Sacrament of Reconciliation:
  • Monday March 6th  Arrive anytime between 6:30 and 8:30 pm in the main church. 
• Attend the rehersal and the Confirmation Mass:
  •  Life Teen Small groups: 10A, 10C, 10 F, 11A, 11B, 11C, 11D, 12A, and 12B
    • Confirmation Mass #1 
      • Wednesday March 22, 2023. Mass begins at 6:30 pm in the main church (Candidates & Sponsors to arrive to the Parish Hall at 5:30 pm.) 
      • Dress code for this Mass for both candidates and sponsors can be found at Stlaurence.org/Confirmation
    • Rehearsal #1 with Candidate and Sponsor: 
      • Tuesday March 21, 2023, 7-8pm, in the parish hall. 
  • Life Teen small groups: 10B, 10D, 10E, 10G,10H
    • Confirmation Mass #2 
      • Thursday March 30, 2023 Mass begins at 6:30 pm in the main church (Candidates & Sponsors to arrive at 5:30 pm in parish hall) 
      • Dress code for this Mass for both candidates and sponsors can be found at stlaurence.org/Confirmation 
    • Rehearsal #2 with Candidate and Sponsor: 
      • Wednesday March 29, 2023 7-8pm in the parish hall
