Thank you for your interest in the St. Laurence African Catholic Community (SLACC). Please read more about our ministry and how you can become involved.
About UsWe are a non-profit Christian Community. We promote Catholic ethics, cultural values, charity, fellowship, service vocations, cooperation and understanding among African-Origin members and members of St. Laurence. Mission StatementAfricans who are are committed to serve, unite, and share their faith and traditions with and within the St. Laurence Catholic Community.
Our Objectives
- Charity to all Nations.
- Hold events at St. Laurence which encompass African traditions to increase spiritual, faith and awareness.
- Actively participate in activities of the church that promote relationships with parishioners and the community.
- Set a good example and role model for other parishioners through our daily actions.
Members are encouraged to volunteer individually in the different Ministries of the parish. We have members who are Lectors, Ushers, Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion, CCE teachers, Stewardship committee members, and many other ministries served in. Collectively we take an active part in parish activities.
MeetingsGeneral Meeting - 3rd Saturday from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Ave Maria Center
Prayer Meetings - Saturdays from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM via Zoom
SLACC Adoration - 1st Tuesday from 6 PM - 7 PM at the Chapel of Divine Mercy
Membership
Membership is open to all baptized African Catholics by birth, marriage or naturalization who are Parishioners at St. Laurence Catholic Church. Please contact us for more information and how to join and serve with us. Visit our Event Gallery HERE.
Prayer to St. JudeMost Holy Apostle St. Jude Thaddeus, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master into the hands of the enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many, but the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases and of things despaired of. Pray for me who am so needy; make use, I implore you of that particular privilege accorded to you to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings particularly (here mention your petition) and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O blessed Jude to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen.
