Please discern if you wish to serve next year and read and submit the Altar Server Agreement if yo do wish to serve next year.
Please reserve November 6, 6:00-8:30 for general altar server training. At that time we will be training on candles, cross (for those tall and strong enough to carry it), thurible, and serving the bishop.
Altar Server scheduling Starting with the September schedule (that's the next schedule to release on August 22!) the new novices will begin their training Masses. Each novice must complete 2 training Masses so two spots will be reserved and they will be scheduled instead of signing up. The remaining 3 spots will also be scheduled for all altar servers.
To avoid being scheduled for a Mass you don't want to serve at, please set your preferred Masses and your exclusion times for weekends you cannot serve.
**Important** check the "Schedule me only at these times" to lock down those Masses and not open the possibility of the scheduler placing you in a Mass you don't wish to serve or don't attend. Not checking that can cause some unpleasant surprises.
The training Masses will continue through October.
Beginning with the November schedule, there will be 3 scheduled spots and 2 open spots for regular sign-ups.
This will align altar servers with all the other liturgical ministries (EMHCs, Lectors, Sacristans, Deacons, Acolytes) that are now scheduled to serve.
The schedule is published the 3rd Monday of each month and a notification will be sent prior to that as a reminder to update your profile with exclusion dates.
For example, if you play little league baseball and can't serve at all during the summer due to games, then you can set a date range to not serve or you can set the specific dates you can't serve to avoid being scheduled.
If you are scheduled for a Mass you can't serve simply request a sub and a broadcast will be sent to all the servers eligible to serve that weekend and at that Mass and someone will pick it up; no problem.
**Family groupings can be created to make sure altar servers in the same family aren't scheduled in separate Masses. Please notify [email protected] if you need this grouping created.**
