Admissions Policy (2006-2007)

•  Admission is based on the availability of space, developmental, scholastic and behavioral qualifications of applicant, and resources available to meet student needs.

•  Age requirements:

PreK 3-year-olds – 3 years of age on or before September 1, 2006

PreK 4-year-olds – 4 years of age on or before September 1, 2006

PreK All Day – 4 years of age on or before September 1, 2006

Kindergarten – 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2006

1st Grade – 6 years of age on or before September 1, 2006

2nd – 8th Grades – successful completion of previous grade level

•  Applications will be taken for available spaces only. Those wishing to be considered as vacancies occur will be placed on the waiting list.

•  All applicants are required to participate in admissions screening/testing.

•  Applicants for the elementary and middle school must meet the following criteria:

•  Grades of “C” or better in all academic areas

•  Standardized test scores appropriate for the level in reading, math, language, and the composite score

•  Behavior rating of satisfactory or better

•  Priority placement will be given to students presently enrolled in St. Laurence Catholic School Preschool 3 year-olds through 7th grade.

New students enrolling in St. Laurence Catholic School will be prioritized

for admission for remaining class openings based on the number of

criteria met. Criteria are:

•  Siblings of students presently attending St. Laurence Catholic School.

•  Children of families who have been registered in St. Laurence Parish for at least six months prior to the opening of school registration. Allowances may be made for families moving into the Parish within the six month time period.

•  Children of families who have supported the Parish through regular contributions.

•  Children of families who have actively supported the Parish with their time and/or talents.

•  Children of families who have provided financial support for the School.

•  Children of families who have actively supported the School with their time and/or talents.

Non-Catholics will be considered after May 1.

•  All new students are admitted on a probationary basis according to Diocesan policy.

•  Parents are expected to disclose with appropriate school personnel any significant confidential information, which may affect their child's educational progress. Such sharing includes, but is not limited to, any of the following: diagnostic evaluations, medications or specific family situations. Failure to disclose such pertinent data at any time during the school year may result in subsequent dismissal.
